If someone in your group has their own bagel cutter (or if there’s already one at camp), then you can even cut the bagel into smaller pieces and make salad out of them!

Banana Boats

Banana boats are the perfect treat for a camping trip. This sweet treat has the perfect combination of banana, marshmallows and chocolate chips. To make this dessert you will need a banana, sugar and butter. 

First spread butter on the banana then sprinkle sugar on top of it. Next cut up small pieces of chocolate chip cookies and place them in between two slices of bread so that they look like tiny sandwiches (you could also use graham crackers or vanilla wafers). 

Then wrap each sandwich with foil or plastic wrap making sure that it is completely covered so no water can get into it when cooking over an open fire pit or grilling hot dogs! 

Finally put your wrapped sandwiches in a pan with some water until all water is soaked up by bread but does not come out at bottom when removed from heat source (about 5 minutes).

Preheat your grill for 30 minutes. While you’re waiting for it to heat up, peel the apples and cut them into quarters lengthwise (cut out the core). 

Brush each quarter with butter then sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon. Place on a hot grill rack directly over medium-high heat and cook until they begin to soften but do not burn; do not turn over while grilling.[1]

Tortilla Pizzas

Tortilla pizzas are a tasty alternative to regular pizza, and they’re easy to prepare in the campsite.

You’ll need tortillas, a variety of toppings, and cheese. You can use store-bought or homemade tortillas—just make sure they’re sturdy enough to hold up in the oven!

Layer your tortillas with different types of toppings and extra cheese on each one. Make sure you have enough for everyone at the campsite to enjoy their own individual pizza!

Bake until the cheese is melted and bubbly (about 5 minutes). Cut into slices before serving alongside some veggies or salad for an easy lunchtime spread!

Preheat a cast iron skillet over medium-low heat.

Cut tortillas into eight wedges each and spread on a baking sheet. If you have time, put them in the oven for 5 minutes at 400 degrees F to heat up (this makes them super crispy when they go into the pan). Otherwise microwave for 20 seconds if necessary.

Place two tortillas on preheated skillet and add cheese as desired (we used cheddar and monterey jack), sliced onions, peppers and other vegetables cut into strips (we added mushrooms). 

Put another layer of cheese on top of veggies before putting another tortilla over it all so that you have an even layer from edge to edge across both sides of your pan. You can use whatever ingredients you want here!

 Just don’t make it too thick—you may need more than one pan if using thicker items like bell peppers—the goal is for it not being burnt!

Moroccan Chicken With Couscous

In order to make this dish successfully you’ll need:

  • 2 cups of flour (all purpose)
  • 1 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • ½ cup butter

Campfire Fajitas


  • 1 lb of beef or chicken (cut into thin strips)
  • 1/2 cup of bell peppers (chopped)
  • 2 onions (sliced)
  • 1/4 cup of water for the meat

Place a large skillet over medium-high heat. When pan heats up, add oil and then add sliced onions, bell pepper and meat. 

Cook until browned on all sides, about 10 minutes. Add water if necessary to prevent burning or sticking to the pan. Remove from heat and set aside until you’re ready to assemble fajitas later on in your camping trip.

Campfire Rice Pudding

Campfire rice pudding is a classic camping dessert. It’s creamy, sweet and warm—all you need to enjoy your time around the campfire.

There are two ways to make this recipe: 1) boiling or 2) baking. The baking method is a lot easier because you don’t have to worry about constantly stirring it over the heat of an open flame, but both methods taste great!

If you choose to bake it in the oven, prepare your ingredients as usual and then wrap them in foil before placing them in an oven safe pan (or pot). 

Then set that on top of another pan containing water so that when it heats up, some steam will rise through your rice pudding creating an authentic crusty top layer like what happens with traditional stovetop cooking methods. 

Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes until golden brown on top and set inside (if you’re using glass containers like me).

If instead of using glass containers I’d recommend using stainless steel pots with lids since those can withstand higher heat without breaking down into pieces like what happened with my first batch when I tried making them like this but didn’t properly cover everything up before putting it into the fire pit!
